WILL WRIGHT - PAST THE FALL

Aggiornamento: 29 nov 2019

WILL WRIGHT - PAST THE FALL 💿 Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal WILL WRIGHT of PAST THE FALL! Welcome!! Thanks for having us! Its great to talk to you! 💿 You're are out for a few days with a new platter entitled FROM INSANITY'S RUIN, well received on pur pages. Can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style? I guess regards the composition of the songs we tend to get the music sorted first which can come from a string of ideas or even just a riff that's brought in, and its built from there, we like to take time and work at building the song that's in our heads over just bashing out what our muscle memory is familiar doing- so it can take time! Usually once we have a work in progress we bring in the vocals, melody and lyrics. As cliched as it sounds we don't really think about the style when we write music we just try to leave our ego at the door and serve the germ of the song and say something that feels true to us. 💿 Can you tell us somethin'about the birth and the name of your band? Which artists or bands impressed you the most as musician in you early times? You could say Past The Fall is built around Me (will) and Thomas' friendship, we go back a long way and have been through a lot together both in life and music, Sam came in a lot later and really complemented the chemistry! The name was something I had in the back of my mind many years ago from one of my many brainstorm lists that used to make previous members groan haha, I always felt that one day that would be a good one to start a new project with and when me an Thomas started with this band it felt right! In the early days we were and probably still really driven by bands that don't compromise on there sound and had a badass groove and attitude, things like Pantera, Sabbath, Alice in Chains, maybe a little bit of Mastodon. 💿 There's a great return of format such as vinyl and cassette. What's your thinking about these classic format..love for vintage or is it impossible a future for music outside digital? Debates about sound quality with vinyl rage but for me personally I think that its returned because it represents the ritual, when it was the current format it was the way to consume music at home, now I think there is an air of occasion and ceremony that digital music doesn't provide with streaming platforms. It perhaps may never be at the level it was for obvious reasons but its place is in the market place is for very different reasons and I think that's great! So yes I think it has a place and it can all coexist nicely! 💿 Inside your songs what's the role of lyrics in the composition process? Words follow music or vice versa? Definitely when it comes to the composition process the words came after the music, but we believe in making them one with the song, even down to the sounds of the words to communicate the right feeling! 💿 Can you tell us somethin' about your live plans? Absolutely! We're spending the remainder of the year promoting the record- but next year we're targeting festivals a lot harder than we have in the past, we're not writing off support tours but we're at the moment planning to build into to our own headline tour after the summer since with this record we've built a really complete live show now. We'll have more announcements in January!

💿 We love the cover of FIR! Can you tell us somethin'about ? Thanks! It was made by Costin Chioreanu from Twilight 13 media, who's worked with some great artists like grave and arch enemy. The concept comes from us and I send him a sketch and he turns it into something that doesn't look like it was drawn on a beer mat! The concept has a strong theme of rising from the ashes and not with hate and derision but with heart and unity, that's why there's a lot of symbology on the cover that elude to a lot of issues we face in our times of capitalism and populism, these things try to divide us- but with courage, love and humility- humanity has more in common than it realises! 💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal! Our pleasure! Its been a blast! \m/ Will Wright Past The Fall #pressagent Palmer Turner Overdrive
