💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal...VICIOUS NATURE! Welcome!
Firstly, you're all experienced musicians. Would you like to present your partners in crime?
Hi, you are talking today with Andy Southwell, guitarist and Jon JB Brown drummer with UK based Heavy Metal band Vicious Nature.
Andy was a long serving member or Marshal Law and JB played for many years for Cloven Hoof.
The rest of the outfit consists of two others MARSHALL LAW members, Andy Pyke and Declan Parry.

💿 Three EP with the last VII out two years ago. Are you working on new material? Can you tell us somethin’ about?
We are currently working on new material for our next release which we had started on prior to the CV19 outbreak.
This will be our 1st release since securing our new bassist PADDY. The material already sounding very HEAVY and DIRECT.
💿 Can you tell us somethin'about your early times as musician? Who impressed you the most?
AS: I was always interested in the guitar from an early age. I was most impressed with Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen.
JB: was bought up initially listening to classic drummers such as JOHN BONHAM and BILL WARD and as time progressed I became more influenced by DAVE LOMBARDO and VINNIE PAUL..trying to achieve a feel and groove to what we do playing for the song.
💿 There's a great return of format such as vinyl and cassette. What's your thinking about these classic format..love for vintage or is it impossible a future for music outside digital?
We love the old vinyl formats , the whole feel of the record and the piece of artwork that was the cover just made it such a complete wholestic package, something very special.
In 2016 we released a limited edition black and red vinyl 7" single with magma insert which sold very well.
We hope to release our next product on vinyl as well as cd .
Both myself and JB still have extensive vinyl collections which we love and cherish however with the way of modern technology digital recording formats are here to stay and allow more people accessibility to a wider range of music.

💿 Inside your songs what’s the role of lyrics in the composition process? Words follow music or vice versa?
VICIOUS NATURE normally have a series of musical ideas/ riff etc that are bought to the rehearsal rooms and thrashed about with until they form the basis of a track.
Once we have a musical idea then we set to work on establishing a melody and then lyrics.
It is however a very free flowing process, one drum lick can change the whole feel of a song as easily as a vocal line and a guitar riff, so everyone plays a integral part in the writing process.
Andy tends to write and record the initial ideas for the music in his home studio and has been stock piling ideas over the last few weeks as we have been stuck inside.
Luckily we had been working on a few ideas prior to the lock down which we have been able to refine.

💿 How much is complicated to make music at the time of a global pandemy? Are you scheduling some concerts for the second part of the year or is to too soon?
We have had to cancel a few shows because of the current situation but will reschedule them as soon as possible and can't wait to get back out there delivering some VICIOUSNESS to the world.
💿 You shared stages with many bands and artists..Who were the craziest?
AS: I was lucky enough to share the stage with lots of my hero's such as DEEP PURPLE, MOTÖRHEAD, DIO, MALMSTEEN, DOKKEN well as many other major acts.
But the craziest was W.A.S.P.!
JB: I have shared a stage with a number of AWESOME acts but I will always remember the true character that was LEMMY.
💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!
Thank you once again for the interest you have shown in VICIOUS NATURE.
