THOMAS V JÄGER

Thomas V Jäger

💿Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal THOMAS V JAGER! Welcome!!

Hi! Thank you for having me!

💿 On May 8th will be out on RidingEasy your solo album entitled A SOLITARY PLAN; we had the chance to listening to it in preview and we were really impressed; can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style?

It started off with the two first songs on the album, "A Solitary Plan" and "Creature Of the Deep". I recorded these two songs two-three years ago. I didn't plan to release an album but for every new song I wrote the thoughts of an album grew. I recorded it in my home studio and I record whenever I feel inspiration flowing. I make myself a cup of coffee and move upstairs to the studio and just play. This is a pretty sad record and I needed to do it as a form of therapy To do everything myself (except mixing and mastering) was something I needed to do with these songs.

💿 There's a great return of format such as vinyl and cassette. What's your thinking about these classic format..love for vintage or is it impossible a future for music outside digital?

I bought my first vinyl record as a kid with my grandmother. I bought a Twisted Sister 7". It must have been around 1988 or something. I still buy vinyl records and it is my fav format but I like the digital way too.

Too bad Spotify and the likes are greedy bastards.

💿 The live activity is stopped for well-known reasons about corona virus; Do you think will be the chance in the future to play live the songs of this album, maybe in some intimate venues?

I might play these songs live sometime but I have no idea about when.

I have gotten offers to play but so far I have turned them all down.

When the time is right I will.

💿 Can you tell us somethin'about your early days as a musician? What kind of artists or bands influenced you the most?

My mother and I went to buy a guitar when I was 11 or 12 and when I got home I started playing along to (my mothers worn out copy of) Deep Purple - Made in Japan, and I remember being all happy about me figuring out the chords for Highway Star.

I realised pretty fast though, that I am way too impatient to practice all the flaming hot and fast guitar leads.

I can play a good solo but I write all my solos and rarely improvise in the studio. Since I have gotten this "what are your influences when writing" question a bunch of times lately I have started thinking about that.

And I think the bands I listened to in my late teens early twenties are the ones that set the foundation for everything.

I listened a lot to Entombed, The Hellacopters, Type O Negative, Nebula, Goatsnake, Jethro Tull among a bunch of others.

💿 Can you tell us somethin'about MONOLORD? Are there any news about the heir of NO COMFORT?

No news, sorry.

💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!

All the best to you! Thanks!

Thomas
