MAGNUS MILD - Perpetual Etude
💿 Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal MAGNUS MILD of PERPETUAL ETUDE! Welcome!
Thanks a lot! It's my pleasure!!
💿 Can you introduce us the current line-up of the band?
Let's start with Vidar MÃ¥rtensson. He's an excellent drummer. I met him for the first time when he joined Air Raid, and since then we have done a great number of gigs together. The chemistry was there from the beginning, and he is a very talented musician. He's also been playing drums with Osukaru.
Then we have Mikael Planefeldt on bass. He's a real groove machine. He is also playing with NorthTale and Gathering of Kings. Mikael and Vidar makes the sound very solid.
On keys, we have Kaspar Dahlqvist. He's also a true talent, as the rest of them. Been listening to his playing for years before our roads crossed. He's got that extra something in his playing that I've been trying to find myself for years. Both technical and very melodic
On vocals we have Kristian Fyhr. From the first time I heard him sing, I just knew. - This is the one! Take a listen to Seventh Crystal if you want to hear some more of him and his great voice.
💿 On Oct 15th was out your debut full-length entitled NOW IS THE TIME, positive received on our pages. Can you tell us somethin' about its composition process and style?
Thanks!!
It all started out as follows... I've had quite some songs laying around that I really liked, that did not suit any of my other bands. We recorded some of them and released I've Got The Power on Youtube. After that, we signed a deal with Black Lodge (Sound Pollution). Then we decided to go all in.
From the start, I never planned to make it sound like this or that. It all just came out naturally. My plan was just to have great melodies and a lot of solos, hehe. I'm always writing music, in whatever mood of the day I am in. So the album is, in a way, a little journey from my life.
💿 In your early times which artists influenced you the most?
Europe, Malmsteen, John Norum, Talisman, Kiss, Judas Priest and so on.
💿 Where does the band name come from?
It's always hard to find a band name that is not already taken. After many hours, I came up with Perpetual Etude. The thought behind it is quite simple. The eternal struggle to get better at your instrument. Etude (study) is often a musical composition made to improve your skills.
💿 PERPETUAL ETUDE is out on SOUND POLLUTION. Can you tell us somethin'about relationships with them?
We were contacted by them after we released I've got the power. They have been really awesome to work with since the start.
💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defender of classic format. Love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?
I really hope that there's a future for classic formats, myself. When I buy music it's on vinyl or CD.
💿 We love the cover of NOW IS TIME ..Can you tell us somethin'about?
The songs depict the journeys in life, covering everything from finding true love to the loss of a close one. This is also symbolized on the album cover (by Gustavo Sazes), by a broken hourglass with good and bad memories coming out of the cracks. To learn from what has happened in the past and move on.
💿 Can you tell us something about your next projects?
Well, I've already started to write some new songs for Perpetual Etude. Then, there is Gathering of Kings and last but not least the new Air Raid album.
💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!
Thanks!!
