💿 Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal THE KING of MÄRVEL... Welcome!

Thank you good people of Hardrockheavymetal!

💿 Can you introduce us the current line-up of the band?

Sure! We've got the King on vocals and guitar, the Vicar on drums and the human threashing machine - Mr Burgher - on lead bass. Those are the main offenders in Märvel.

But we always say we're a power trio with at least 6 members since we've got both previous bassists (Speedo and Aviator) plus stand-in drummer the Charlatan in the family.

We don't kick members out, we just keep adding new ones!

💿 On Apr 22nd, 2022 will be out your 9th full-length entitled GRACES CAME WITH MALICE positive received on our pages. Can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style?

The King wrote all the songs and recorded demos of them for the others to hear.

This happened in the middle of the Corona pandemic so it took a while before we could get together.

Once we finally did everybody had a clear vision of how to record the songs.

We've got our own studio, Solskensfabriken, which enables us to work whenever we want on the songs. Style-wise we wanted to each song to get the best possible treatment so that each song could blossom. We talked a lot about aiming for a luxurious late 70s sound but in the end I guess it sounds just like a Märvel album.

💿 What's the role of lyrics in your songs?

King: They're very important and has always been since day one. The lyrics on Graces... are perhaps the most personal ones to date and comes from a dark passage of my life that I was trying to own by processing and trying to turn into something positive.

💿 In your early times which artists influenced you the most?

When we started out we had a lot of our childhood heroes in mind; Kiss, Iron Maiden, Wasp, Europe and of course Hellacopters were big at the time so they were an obvious influence. We also took inspiration from the Beastie Boys. Maybe not musically but when it came to attitude and fun-ness.

💿 GRACES CAME WITH MALICE is out THE SIGN RECORDS. Can you tell us somethin about the relationship with them?

We've been working with Sign since 2016 when our previous label Killer Cobra Records threw in the towel. Kaj and Patrik are crazy passionate about music and gives us total creative freedom. They've been great in helping us realize our crazy ideas and keeping the MÄRVEL back catalogue alive. They understand the value of building a legacy that can stand the test of time.

💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defender of classic format. Love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?

Vintage formats will always live on no matter what happens in the digital world. The vinyl format grows stronger for every year and even cassetts are seeing a revival. Just wait and CDs will be cool again! The digital distibution and easy access to all music is hard to imagine living without now that we're used to it but the downside is that it makes everything worth less.

💿 We love the cover of GRACES...Can you tell us somethin'about?

Thanks, we're very proud of it! It was drawn by our friend, the great artist Mats Engesten from Linköping. He's done several pieces of artwork for us in the past, like the covers for our albums Thunderblood Heart and Warhawks of War. We came up with the concept in one of our many long nightly Skype-talks. We had the idea of us working like scientists in a 1800 century environment, trying to re-animate some creature. Once you get the physical release you will learn more about the story that the cover tells since the backside of the album has more artwork.

💿 Can you tell somethin'about rock/metal scene in your Country after two years of Covid madness?

Sweden has too many bands and all of them have been busy writing and recording material during this period. Bands are eager to get back on the roads to play in front of people. The pandemic has forced people to be creative in many ways. Märvel turns 20 this year and we're celebrating by releasing new music and also by hosting a 2 day festival - MÄRVELFEST - in Linköping in august.
