LEE SCARFE - FORSAKEN AGE

LEE SCARFE - Forsaken Age

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal LEE SCARFE of FORSAKEN AGE ! Welcome!!

Thank you it is an absolute pleasure and we appreciate your support for our band at the bottom of the world.

💿 On Nov 6th will be out your new album, well-received on our pages, entitled HEAVY METAL NIGHTMARE. Can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style?

We have a collaborative approach to our writing and this has been the way we have done things since the beginning. It takes longer to write but the results are better and everyone plays them with more passion as we all own the material, we all created it.

It always starts with a few beers and we go from there.

Our style is not deliberate we didn’t set out to do anything but write heavy metal.

The happy coincidence is it sounds like the kind of metal we love!

💿 In your early times as musicians which artists influenced you the most?

The Artists that influence are quite wide ranging from Y&T, Saxon, Accept,Manowar, Priest to Exciter, Razor, Venom.

There are so many to list. Nothing surprising here. We are huge metal fans and we live and die by it!

💿Can you tell us somethin about the birth of the band?

The band birthed when Lee (Bass player) was playing in a covers band with Chrissy (Singer) and Tam (Drums) and decided it was time to write some Heavy Metal, because the world needs more heavy metal. We chilled some beer sat down to write and the rest is history.

💿 How is difficult promote a new work after the lockdown drama? Do you believe can you return soon on stage?

Lockdown is a shitty situation, but, so is dying. We have taken this in our stride. We have great support from Pure Steel records and Metal is still underground (Thankfully). Zines like your one and your readers are crucial to help promote and keep this music alive.

Lucky for us New Zealand went into lock down early so we have about 5 shows lined up for the year and then hoping to get back to Australia in May.

Covid will fuck off eventually and we will back on stage.

It will take a couple of years for us to be able to get into Europe but when we do, we will need beer and volume!

💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defender of classic format..love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?

I think vintage is what keeps bands alive. Metal heads collect trophies (I think because we can’t collect heads anymore). No where in music is there a more merch than metal. Records, CDs etc for us still out strip digital sales. It is a connection to the artist, a very visceral connection.

I myself have gone broke buying vinyl, nothing goes better with a beer than spinning a record.

Keep defending this format as it is another reason Metal rules!

💿 Your new album will be out on PURE STEEL GROUP; Can you tell us somethin about the partnership with them?

Pure Steel to me have always been a beacon in the underground scene a very visible flag bearer for Heavy Metal. The partnership is a no brainer for us. Labels like Pure Steel are important to the scene. I can’t describe how pleased we are to have Pure Steel behind us for this.

💿 Can you tell us somethin about the great cover of new album?

The cover art was designed by our new drummer Adam Freeman. It is a simple concept but is (in my opinion) so visually stunning. It draws the eye to it and it sums up the album. To me it looks like a poster for 80s horror movie!

The album is metal for 80s maniacs and the cover is perfectly inline with that!

💿Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal, hoping to see you also on the stage as soon as possible.

Thank you for the support. As soon as we can we will be on the stage!

We are Forsaken Age and you are all heavy fucking metal!
