LAST DAYS OF EDEN - DANI G.

Dani G. - LAST DAYS OF EDEN

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal Dani G. of LAST DAYS OF EDEN.. Welcome!

Dani G.- Thanks! The pleasure is mine!

💿 Can you introduce us the current line-up of the band?

D.G.- We are Lady Ani on vocals, Andrea Joglar on bagpipe and flute, Sara Ember on violin, Javy González on bass, Leo Duarte on drums, and me on guitars and vocals.

💿 On Oct 15th was out your full-length entitled BUTTERFLIES positive received on our pages. Can you tell us somethin' about its composition process and style?

D.G.- After we finished the “Chrysalis Tour” on Nov 2019 we were supposed to start with the recordings for the new album, but most of it was not composed yet due to the tight schedule. Somehow when this pandemic came I started with the composition and days were so short!. This was really exciting! I was composing and arranging songs daily for a couple of months, sending them to the band, recording demos... And finally it came to an end with the album recordings!. I don´t think that we could do it without the pandemic, to be honest. After the release we are 200% happy with the reception. Almost every single word is possitive, and everybody is in love with this combination of symphonic and celtic stuff, the bagpipes, and all that elements.

💿 In your early times which artists influenced you the most?

D.G.- There´s many strong influences not only from metal, rock or even pop music, but celtic music too. We are compared to Nightwish so often because there´s not many melodic and symphonic bands with folk elements and female vocals out there. It´s a pleasure to us, as long as we really love this band and they are on the top of the scene!

💿 Where does the band’s name come from?

D.G.- We are so used to change the movies titles in Spain, and there´s a nineties film called “Medicine Man” starred by Sean Connery, which spanish title was “The Last Days of Eden”. That sounded so cool to me, and way different than a two-words name, which is much more usual.

💿 LAST DAYS OF EDEN is out on EL PUERTO RECORDS. Can you tell us somethin'about relationships with them?

D.G.- Yeah! When we got the first demos from the album we were sending them to some labels looking for new artists. We were lucky and got many answers, but most of them were interested in many different topics so far from the music itself. When we talked to El Puerto they always stated that they loved our music, and this was a clearly important point to us. After the release this seems that they are doing a great job and we are so happy with it!.

💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defender of classic format. Love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?

D.G.- Nobody knows it!. I come from an era when people said that vinyl was about to be extinct, and nowadays you see: vinyl is stronger than the last 15 years. When I was a teenager and I entered a music shop, I remember that I was so excited: got the albums in my hands, had a look at the cover, the artwork, and if you were lucky and you knew the owner, he would opened the album for you and would play it. This is not the way that we do it today, but I still enjoy the physical format, whenever it´s CD, vinyl or even cassette. On the other hand, the video side of the story is almost fully digital: we have released 4 videos digitally thru YouTube, which are “The Secret”, “Silence”, “The Garden” and “Save The World”. By the way: with this last one we are doing a fund campaign to get some money for the WWF association.

💿 We love the cover of BUTTERFLIES ..Can you tell us somethin'about?

D.G.- Of course! This was made by Daniel Alonso. He is an artist from our region. I´ve been working with him for the last 20 years in different bands, and he is well known in Spain. He is the perfect example of the combination between creativity, passion and talent. I just love his job, and I would invite you all to check out his portfolio on the internet. It´s really impressive.

💿 Can you tell us something about your next projects?

D.G.- Hopefully we will release an orchestral version of “Butterflies” soon, but at this moment we are focused on the tour, which starts in the Urrock Fest (Switzerland) this month. We hope to hit the road across Europe, and hopefully we will play in the wonderful Italy soon!. I´ve been there working many times with other bands and all I can say is that I love it!.

💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!

D.G.- Thank you for this wonderful interview and see you soon!!!
