Anton Frick Kallmin / HOT BREATH
💿 Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal Anton Frick Kallmin, bassplayer of HOT BREATH.
Welcome!!
STORT JÄVLA TACK!
💿 On April 9th will be out your new album Rubbery Lips , well-received on our pages. Can you tell us something about its composition process and style ?
We spend most of the summer of 2020 making the songs that would end up on Rubbery Lips.
We did not only put a lot of time into each song, but also a lot of time into each part of every song.
The tracks on this album is really a blueprint on the best stuff that we could make at that time.
I'm happy with it. I can clearly hear the amount of work we put into it. That gives me satisfaction.
The style of the album could be described in various ways. It's a solid rockrecord of course, but it's not always so obvious. We left our safezones sometimes. If you take a track like "Who's the one" for example. On that track you can clearly hear that we are capable of doing more than just the average rock tune. By saying that I don't mean the rest of the songs are average. We would never let something that we thought of as average, end up on a Hot Breath record.
💿 In your early times as musician which artists influenced you the most?
Kiss opened up a totally new world for me. They made me want to stand on a stage.
Nowadays I get influence from different types of styles and music.
I listen to a lot of old country music, cheesy AOR and Black Metal. So the list is pretty long I suppose.
💿 How is difficult promote a new work throughout this never-ending covid madness?
It's difficult when you can't book shows like you do during normal times. This time around you got to find new and clever ways on putting the record in peoples face. Bless the internet! Hah!
💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defender of classic format..love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?
I think vinyl has come back very strong. I also think it will stay healthy for a long period. You can't beat the whole ritual of buying a new record, having a tasty beer and turning up the volume to 11.
At the same time, I discover a lot of music on the internet, so I wouldn't trade one for the other.
💿 In absence of live music many bands provide streaming concerts..You agree or disagree? What's your opinion about?
I agree as long as it's interesting. I've seen a bunch of livestreams during covid.
Far from all of them has been interesting. You got to spice them up to get people to watch the whole thing.
I'm not against them at all. It's good that there is some way to promote your liveshows when you can't do them for real!
💿 Rubbery Lips will be out on The Sign Records..Can you tell us somethin' about relationships with them?
We have released records at the Sign Records with our previous bands. We have a pretty solid communication and they are a great platform for a band like us! They give new bands a chance to put out their stuff on vinyl and they always have new ideas on how to do stuff!
💿 Great cover for Rubbery Lips. Can you tell us somethin' about?
We wanted a cover that shows people that we are NOT a slow psychedelic Swedish stoner rock band. I think we pulled it off.
Anders Muammar is a great artist, and would love to see more collaborations with him in the future!
💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal, hoping to see you also on the stage as soon as possible.
Thank you for wanting a chat! Hope you enjoyed the answers. If whoever reads this came this far.. check out Red Sky with Status Quo. If you don't like it, you suck!
Also, buy our new record and all of that classic promotion information.
Cheers, Anton.
