💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal GARY TARPLEE of NIVIANE...Welcome!!
On Oct 30th will be out your new album, well-received on our pages, entitled THE RUTHLESS DIVINE.
Can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style?
GARY: The writing process was just a little different for us.
Psychomanteum was written in the studio by Mark, Rick, Norm and myself on New Years Eve.
We very rarely collaborate all in the same room with songs during the writing process because we all have recording studios in our homes, but it was great to be able to have all of our minds thinking at the same time to come up with such a crushing song…..especially on a night where most people were whooping it up and partying.
We were focused on creating one of the heaviest songs on the album in my opinion.
I also think that individually and as a band, we matured and grew a bit since the Druid King.
The writing on this album doesn’t deviate at all from our style, but I think we all brought heavier riffs to the table which is going to really make this album stand out!
💿 In your early times as musicians which artists influenced you the most?
GARY: My early influences band wise were Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metal Church, Anthrax, Boston, Triumph, early Meatllica, etc. Guitarists that I was influenced by were Dave Murray, Rik Emmett, Neal Schon, Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads, etc.
💿 Can you tell us somethin’ about the birth of the band?
GARY: I joined the band in Feb of 2016.
I replaced Claudeous Creamer who is now the guitarist for Possessed. In 2014 when the band was formed, the original members were Mark Miner, Rick Stallkamp, Rick Sprague and Claudeous Creamer.
They are the ones who had this vision of being “The New Breed of American Powermetal”……….and the rest is history!
💿 How is difficult promote a new work after the lockdown drama?
GARY: Not being able to go out and play live shows has definitely been difficult since that is where most people will hear the new music.
Social media has been a good sounding board to promote our stuff and I think that it is working with the times we are dealing with.
I certainly wouldn’t want to soley rely on social media for promotion, but we have been using it to keep everyones attention perked.
💿 Do you believe can you return soon on stage?
GARY: I do! This world needs music. Its therapeutic. Concert goers are a breed of people that you cant just keep them from going to shows. People are itching to see live music. I think that once the venues open back up (hopefully without restrictions), it will be the best thing therapeutically for the fans and musicians as a whole!
💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defender of classic format..love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?
GARY: I am being asked all the time about vinyl records. There is something special about being able to hold the artwork of a bands album up close with a vinyl album cover, look at its detail, display it like a poster and have that album in your hands. You cant do that with a digital download. I am a fan of both because you cant take the vinyl in your car, so digital certainly has its place. But vinyl will always over rule digital in my book.
💿 Your new album will be out on PURE STEEL RECORDS. Can you tell us somethin about the partnership with them?
GARY: Norm has really been the mastermind behind our relationship with Pure Steel. I am excited to start this venture with them.
💿 Can you tell us somethin about the great cover of new album?
GARY: Dusan Markovic has done the artwork on both of our albums and his artwork representation reflects the content of the album well! A warrior standing over a sea of men with a wielded sword outside a castle, what is more bad ass than that? When I saw the artwork for the first time, I was truly blown away!
💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal, hoping to see you also on the stage as soon as possible.
