💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal, DEMOSTHENES DOVAS, singer of NORTHWIND.. Welcome!!

The pleasure is all mine my friend ,thanks for your time and your interest.

💿 On May 29th was your long-awaited new full-length entitled HISTORY. Can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style?

Kostas Papadimitriou - Papadopoulos had this concept in his mind for many years as a continuance to the MYTHOLOGY album. All the songs except Soldier’s Pay which is an old one were written during the last ten years . He also wrote most of the lyrics and I added a few lines here and there . We ended up rehearsing the songs again and again in the studio the last two years trying to get the feeling and during this process we did some changes in some musical parts and vocal lines. I would say that the style has the characteristic NORTHWIND vibe. Classical hard rock tunes with some heavy metal touches.

💿 In your early times as musician which artists or bands influenced you the most?

I’m a huge fan of the 60’s and 70’s sound but I’m a huge heavy metal fan also.David Byron as a vocalist and Uriah Heep is my biggest love but I can name thousands of bands from Beatles, Stones and Doors to Metallica and Slayer. I never put boundaries in my music taste.

💿 How is difficult promote a new work after the lockdown drama? Do you believe can you return soon on stage?

It’s really difficult because every band and every artist waits for the moment to go on stage and share his work with the people. Live shows and merch selling during the live shows are the main income for every band. This is where the fans get to know your “product” and where you get bonded with them. Now the only thing we can do is to promote our work through the internet and like every one else we have to wait for things to get better and get back on the streets where the real life is for an artist. We hope it want take that long,what can I say ,no one knows.

💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defender of classic format..love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?

There’s always life outside digital and fortunately people do realize it and support it. I know it’s easier and sometimes it helps to share and spread your music faster but we also see that the very last years vinyl cd’s and even cassettes came back massively . In my opinion nothing compares to the classic format.Nothing compares to the feeling when you hold a record in your hands.

💿 Your new album is out on mighty NO REMORSE RECORDS; Can you tell us somethin’ about the partnership with them?

So far we are more than excited with this partnership. Both Christos and Andreas are great guys doing this job for many years in a high level and overall they are still huge fans of the music we listen to. For me all these things together are very important. When we sent them the whole album they didn’t hesitate not a single moment to take over the release and the promotion of our music, and when someone shows you this kind of trust you can’t say know. Considering all these I think we did the right choice.

7. Can you tell us somethin about the great cover of new album?

It’s Diogenes the Cynic philosopher also refers as The Dog (the last song of the album). He was the main representative of cynical philosophy and one of the most controversial personalities in ancient Greece. His thrifty way of life and his critical point of view for the rest of the world were the reasons why they called him so. We wanted something that could capture the feeling and the concept of the album, like a history book cover.The painting was created by Jean-Leon Gerome (1824-1904) and it’s in Walters Art Museum in Baltimore.
