BATTLE BORN

BATTLE BORN

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal, BATTLE BORN! Welcome!!

On June 26th will be out your self-titled Ep, well-received on our pages. Can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style?

Will Kerr (Guitar and Keyboard): The writing process has been one of the most collaborative band experiences I've ever known.

Of course we've individually come up ideas, but we've spent a lot of time together refining them as a team. There are a lot of demos floating about!

💿 Who have been your greatest influences?

Charlie Lamacraft-Perrett (Drums): Skyrim is a great influence in terms of the lyrical theme and content of our music.

There's such a wealth of content that it could keep us writing for years to come.

Musically, we draw influences from more traditional Heavy Metal such as Manowar and Painkiller-era Judas Priest, as well as the more synthy power metal from Finland, like Dreamtale and Battle Beast.

💿 Can you tell us somethin about the birth of the band?

Will: Battle Born started in the summer of 2018. We were riding back to our home having ventured to the home of heavy metal, Wacken.

We wanted to bring a bit of that heavy metal back with us so we started writing music in the car. Heavy metal influence can strike at any time!

💿 How is difficult promote a new work after the lockdown drama? Do you believe can you return soon on stage?

Charlie: It comes as both a blessing and a curse. People are checking out a lot of new music at the moment because there isn't much else to do.

I've discovered several bands these last few weeks that lockdown has given me the time to do.

But it does mean we can't go out and promote it and I'm itching to play live and meet our new fans.

How soon? Only time will tell, but we can guarantee that we'll be out there as soon as we're able.

Will: We're keeping our hands in. We're practicing every day individually.

We've even put together some "live from home" videos.

To tell the truth we can't wait to get out and play some shows. The next best thing is getting ready for them.

💿 Here at HARDROCKHEAVYMETAL we are strong defenders of classic format..love for vintage or isn't there a future outside digital?

Charlie: There's always going to be a call for it - it feels so much better having a physical copy of a CD - I remember when I was younger going into HMV with a tenner and fretting over which album I was going to buy.

For those who do buy physical copies, it really helps out the artist as well, but we appreciate it will never have the same prominence that it once did.

Streaming is the future and we have to embrace it or fall by the wayside. I must admit I stream more often than I put on a CD these days.

Will: I agree with Charlie, but there's no reason to enjoy both. Putting a CD or a vinyl record on to play is such an experience and that's as true now as it was back in the day.

💿 Can you tell us somethin about the great cover of new Ep?

Will: It was just one of those moments! One of us said "Guys! I know what we need! We need a bear with a battle axe taking down a dragon! Oh and give them abs". How was anyone going to say no to that? I foresee all our future artwork involving similar outbursts!

Charlie: I was the last member to join the band to complete the lineup and the artwork had already been commissioned. The moment I first saw it I knew I'd joined something special.

💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal, hoping to see you also on the stage as soon as possible.

Will: Watch the skies, traveller
