ELEINE

ELEINE - MADELEINE “ELEINE” LILJESTAM (M) and RIKARD EKBERG (R) 💿 Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal Madeleine and Rikard of ELEINE!! Welcome!! M: Thank you! A pleasure to be here. R: Happy to be here! 💿 On Nov 22nd will be out your new EP ALL SHALL BURN. We have the chance to listening to it in preview and we were really impressed!! Can you tell us something about its composition process and style? R: Thank you very much, glad you like it! The process was pretty straight forward. We chose the subject of betrayal and deceit since it is something we all have encountered sometime over the years. But we also, as always, wanted to use our platform to spread a message of hope, knowledge and unity. The "All Shall Burn" EP is about being trapped in what may feel as a never ending bad dream, being broken but not beaten and about facing betrayal head on knowing that you are going to walk away stronger than before and that you're not alone. "United we join the fight against our enemies" 💿Can you tell us somethin'about the birth and the name of your band? Which artists or bands impressed you the most as musician? M: I created the name ELEINE based on my first name Madeleine in late 2011/beginning of 2012. Later in 2012 I met Rikard and we instantly became a dynamic duo that could lift this idea off the ground. Many write that ELEINE started in 2011, that is incorrect. It was merely the name that was founded in 2011, I'd say ELEINE started in 2013/2014. It wasn't until 2014 that we had our very first show, in our hometown Landskrona at a jam-packed city festival. It was from this moment that ELEINE really started to grow and evolve. There are a so many bands that both Rikard and I are influenced by. Many old school hardrock and metal such as Metallica, Queen, Dio, Iron Maiden etc. But also "newer" acts like Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy and Moonspell. We've actually have had the honor to support both Arch Enemy and Moonspell on separate tours, something I would love to do again. We should totally support Dimmu Borgir on you also, don't you think? 😉 💿 There's a great return of format such as vinyl and cassette What's your thinking about these classic format..love for vintage or is it impossible a future for music outside digital? M: Vintage things like vinyl will never die, cassette is tougher though...but I love cassettes! The nostalgia alone is worth it. But I like both digital and physical. There's no digital format that can take away the feeling of when you buy a CD, cassette or vinyl. Going to a concert, buying the hard copies from the band's merchandise stand, maybe along with a new t-sthirt.. that's like half the thing with going to concerts in my opinion! It's not only an item.. it's a memory you bring home from that particular event. It's something you will cherish for the rest of your life. At the same time, digital platforms are easily accessible while working out or whatever since you have it right there on your phone. So I really appreciate both sides, and I do believe they will continue to coexist in the future just like they do now! ☺ 💿Inside your songs what's the role of lyrics in the composition process? Words follow music or vice versa? R: Lyrics plays a major part in our work. When it comes to the process itself, whether music och lyrics come first, it's a little bit of both actually. Either a phrase that resonates with us, a kick ass riff/beautiful melody or just a feeling. The one thing that is important above all else is what we feel while listening to what we create. Lyrics are very important to us since it gives us the opportunity to clearly yet poetically tell a story, not just cool word jumbles. At the same time, the music can't be that distant from the meaning of the lyrics, you have to be able to feel what it's all about. It is tough to find the balance to it all sometimes, but somehow we always manage to do it. I think that many connect with our music and art because we use ourselves as a source and that we are also to imagine being in someone else's shoes. We often receive messages from fans that share their stories about how some of our songs has helped them through rough periods and times when they've felt all alone. I often say from the stage that together we are strong. And I really do believe that, not in a physical strength, but mentally. Being strong is not about how hard you hit or how much you lift, it is about how much you can endure and not being afraid to be lifted by others. As we sing in our most recent single "ENEMIES": "United we join the fight, against our enemies". I know I've referenced that twice now, but it's the TRUTH dammit! 💿 Can you tell us somethin' about your live plans ? M: We have a few shows left for 2019, then we will focus on continuing writing new material for a while. In late february 2020 we will leave Sweden for a 5 week European tour with the spellbinding MYRATH. It's a tour both we and fans are really looking forward to. Many have said it's the perfect match, and I have to agree that we fit really well together. We are pumped to be sharing the stage with Myrath! 💿 This EP is the starter in waitin for a full length? M: Hehe, yes...yes it is! 💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal! M: Thank YOU! Great chatting with you! Stay true, Stay metal.
