💿 Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal PIOTR LUCZYK of KAT!! Welcome !! Hi, it's nice to talk to you too. I am available. 💿 The debut of KAT, the great "METAL AND HELL", came out in 1986. Can you tell us somethin'about these years? That was the start of KAT. In Poland at the time, for political reasons, nobody wanted to release Heavy Metal music. And we didn't have a position in the music business. I didn't think we'd manage to release the album, but Jos Kloek from Ambush Records heard our music and thought it was very original. Jos decided to market us outside Poland which created a pretext for KAT's album to be released in Poland as well. That's how it was then. We had a big hardware problem and had to ditch the second guitarist before recording Metal And Hell. English Metal Hammer placed it among the 40 best albums of Black Metal Ever! I didn't think we actually played black metal but yeah, we certainly agree. An amazing thing. 💿 On June 14th was out of the new platter called WITHOUT LOOKING BACK, positive received on our pages. Can you tell us somethin'about its composition process and style? Our new album, WITHOUT LOOKING BACK is a return to the essence of KAT. This is classic Heavy Metal rooted firmly in the genre - Hard Rock and Blues. Perhaps this may deter our fans accustomed to more aggressive sounds, but there is nothing to fear. These are strong and heavy songs.

 Along with the change of vocalist, I have returned to melodies exchanging with guitar riffs. The album surprised our audience, but was very well received. We connected the old school with modern drums and added some sandpaper on the vocal. This record is a trip to the Hard and Heavy Metal story. I worked on the compositions for about a year, then we worked on them together as a band. We entered the studio with thoughtful and well-known material. The lyrics were written by Robert Millord, a man who years ago helped to forge the identity to Kat. I must also add that for the song 'Flying Fire' which became the soundtrack to the movie "303 SQUADRON" the text was written by the new singer Kata Qbek Weigel.

💿 Your new album is out by PURE STEEL RECORDS; can you tell us somethin'about the birth of the partnership with them? After recording and mastering the disc, I sent the material to several labels. Actually, I didn't know how the album would go down with the pros. After a short time, however, I received several proposals for the release of the album 'Without Looking Back.' After talking with several people from various Labels, I chose Pure Steel Records. I must admit that Andreas Lorenz, the PSR boss, amazed me with his professionalism and thorough knowledge of Kat. We quickly came to an agreement. 💿 Can you tell us somethin'about the birth of your passion for music? Which bands and artists have influenced you the bridge? When I was 11 or 12 years old, I heard a Led Zeppelin concert at my older cousin's. Up till that moment, everything I knew was nice and calm. But suddenly wow! 

Such a guitar and a yelling Robert Plant! It changed my whole life. In that moment I found what I wanted to do. I'm sure I'm not alone with this. Many musicians have similar experiences. But in Communist Poland it was as if I wanted to go to the priests! Growing up, I listened to what reached me by iillegal means. There were no discs in record stores. We could only listen to some bands once a week on one radio show. There I met Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath. Later on AC / DC And Judas Priest. These bands have shaped me musically. 💿 The real "news" in music industry is the return of vinyl and cassette; what's your feeling about the classic format and the current music "business"? Maybe people have noticed the difference of sound in favor of vinyl. And perhaps they need something tangible. You know, like holding the disc in your hands. Especially a vinyl disc. Streaming does not give a sense of ownership and identity with the artist.

 When I take a disc from the shelf, I know it's my album. It's like an introduction, a ritual. I can have all the contractors on the phone, but it could be anyone calling. 💿 Can you tell us somethin 'about your next live projects? Are scheduled any gigs? We're currently planning concerts. 💿 You're a brilliant musician with a lot of artists and bands..Who were the craziest which you met? Lars Ulrich . When we played with Metallica, Lars Ulrich had only one pair of drumsticks. In those days, there were no such drumsticks in Poland to suit him. I remember how I stood behind his drums and saw that he was playing as if he had 10 more in stock. Then I understood the power of Metallica. And when we played a tour with Six Feet Under, all the SFU band knew by heart and sang the Bee Gees repertoire. It was beautiful to listen to them sing, and dance like Travolta. But the real madmen were musicians from Hanoi Rocks. We played a tour with them. Behind the amplifiers there were big ashtrays with huge, cigar-like marijuana joints and bottles of vodka. When we got on the bus everyone got a bottle of whiskey. During the trip one of the musicians got lost. He left the bus, saw some fire and went to the fire and we took off. We had to turn the bus around and go back 40 km. It turned out that he came across a gypsy wedding. At another concert, the bass player fell off the stage. It was fun. 💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!
