MATT LAMBOURNE - BLACK SHEETS OF RAIN

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal MATT LAMBOURNE, bass player of BLACK SHEETS OF RAIN ! Welcome!! Thank you for having us, it’s a pleasure to be here! 💿 It's finally ready your new EP, already well-received on our pages, called IN THE EYE OF THE STORM. Can you tell us somethin’about its composition process and style? We had the pleasure to listening to it in preview and we were really impressed! Thanks for your kind words! The talented Mr.Davenport is the source of most of our material, and as a general rule he’ll suggest riff/song ideas to David and myself, we’ll jam them out, play around with the structure and ultimately arrive at the finished songs.

Don’t ask me what other dimension his solos come from though - to watch Rich in full flow somehow makes the impossible seem almost simple! 💿 The EP features as special guest TONY DOLAN (Atomkraft, Venom, Venom Inc.) and as producer Tony Wilson, producer of TOMMY VANCE Friday Rock Show! Can you tell us somethin’ about these connections? Sure, Tony Dolan and Rich are old pals from their time in Atomkraft, and when the need arose for a dramatic monologue in No Rest he was the perfect man for the job. For the production side of things we really wanted to capture the essence of a certain sound, so Tony Wilson seemed an ideal choice to sit in the producer’s chair. His expertise in producing radio sessions and live concert broadcasts for the likes of Thin Lizzy, Dio and Iron Maiden really gave us the confidence that he’d help capture the band’s energy and spontaneity. 💿 The real “news” in music industry is the return of vinyl and audio cassette; What’s your feeling about these classic format and the current music “business”? It depends who you ask… We’re all pretty old school when it comes to physical formats however this is usually tempered by increasingly limited storage – even ikea can only help you fit so much more in… Seriously though we very much love the sound, feel and smell of Vinyl, but I don’t think anyone really misses having to re-wind chewed tapes with a pencil do they? As far as the wider music biz goes the current state of affairs has both its good and bad points. It’s great that there is still such a surprisingly big pool of talented bands making great music, however this proliferation does mean it’s never been harder to actually sell music either!

💿 Your Ep will be out via W.A.R. Productions. Can you tell us somethin’about this partnership? W.A.R. is run by a lovely, lovely man called Alex who has worked previously with both Rich and Dave on a couple of different projects, and when he heard that we were planning a release jumped straight on board with the project. They’ve have mainly provided us with marketing and distribution support, and we certainly wouldn’t have the quality of our limited edition EP digipack, available to buy here (https://www.blacksheetsofrain.com/products/in-the-eye-of-the-storm-ep-digipack-plus-free-digital) download to such a high standard without them. 💿 Can you tell us somethin’ about your next live projects? All going to plan we’re hoping to release a full-length record sometime in the next 12-18 months so we’re busy working on new material. A fair proportion of it is still in the early stages, but we have some exciting collaborations planned with Lancastrian horror author AC Chambers and potentially a guest vocal spot or two from some NWOBHM greats. 💿 Lastly..we love the cover of the new EP..Can you tell us somethin'about? It’s awesome, and all thanks to Alex from W.A.R. Productions. It’s a most evocative work called Der Ausgleich by renowned Austrian artist Dietmar Pickering, and Alex was instrumental in gaining permission for us to use it. 💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal! Thanks, see you again soon.
