TREVOR WILLIAM CHURCH - HAUNT

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal TREVOR WILLIAM CHURCH of HAUNT! Welcome!!

Thank you for having me.

💿 Your new platter BURST INTO FLAME is ready and it will be available in stores from Aug 10th. Can you tell us somethin’about this album and its composition process?

I wrote the album in the winter after coming home from a European tour with my other band Beastmaker. I wanted to write a personal record. The lyrical content is about things that I’ve battled and overcome in my life.

I lost 3 cousins that I grew up playing music with and the album is dedicated to them.

💿 Can you tell us somethin’ about your early times? When is this all begun and which kind of bands have influenced you?

Well as most people know I’m also in Beastmaker. I started Haunt to have a more melodic personal side. In Beastmaker I basically tell horror stories.

I wanted to give people a deeper insight into myself. I’m influenced by so many bands and this is a frequent question. Angel Witch, Def Leppard, Sammy Hagar, Thin Lizzy, etc..the list can really just goon and on. If it moves I like it.

💿 The real “news” in music industry is the return of vinyl. What’s your feeling about this classic format and the current music “business”?

Vinyl records have always been around me. My parents always had records around. Personally I listen to music on my iPhone. I do a lot of travelling so listening to vinyl is not something I do a lot. I have a turntable and records though. I love the new “Business” in music. We have pages like bandcamp that allow artists to independently grow.

The digital aspect for me is by far my personal favorite.

I can travel with all my favorite albums. It’s really a no brainer.

The new “cassette” craze intrigues me for this was my main media growing up. My first car had a tape player so I had many tapes.

I think more or less these days people enjoy collecting. I love music so whatever media format it comes in I’m into it.

💿 The new album will be out again via SHADOW KINGDOM RECORDS. Can you tell us somethin’about the relationships with them?

I started working with SKR when I released “luminous eyes” on bandcamp. I told Tim what my goals and what direction I wanted to go as far as terms of how my music was handled and we saw eye to eye. It’s been a very good relationship and I hope it continues for as long as we can see things on the same level.

💿 We love the cover of BURST INTO FLAME. Can you tell us somethin’about?

When I was about 11 years old my Dad and my Cousin Brandon who is passed on went on a family vacation. We stopped in Reno, Nevada to visit my Dad's best friend Chuck Ruff who was a prolific drummer (Frankenstein by Edgar Winter)…his girlfriend at the time read tarot cards she told me and my cousin we would be famous musicians and this had great appeal to us because we had just started really being able to play songs. So the woman holding the crystal ball represents her.

The title “Burst Into Flame” is about rising up to the occasion with great passion no matter what tries to hold you down.

💿 Can you tell us somethin’about your next live projects?

We have a record release show in Fresno August 10th followed by opening up the Psycho Las Vegas Pre-Pool Party.

Frost and Fire in October. November we will be doing a full USA tour. 💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!
