FRANCESCO SAMMARTANO - KRONOMATOPEA

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal, FRANCESCO SAMMARTANO! Welcome!!

Hi, Im honored, thank You for this opportunity.

💿 Can you tell us somethin’ about your early days? Which bands and music have influenced you and what’s the matter of the moniker of your project (KRONOMATOPEA)?

Since I was a child, I have a strong predilection for music, and at the age of eleven, I have the chance to do it privately. I study clarinet for 6 years, becoming more and more interested in classical music. Because of family problems, I interrupt the clarinet study, which is replaced by the self-study of the guitar and the composition and, at eighteen, I listen for the first time to the song "I'll see the light tonight" by Yngwie Malmsteen. Even if the passion for metal prevails I don’t abandon that of classical music and I am therefore natural to approach the two genres. So I start to write starting from the classical composition and then finishing it with metal sounds and I realize that the final result fully satisfies my personal conception of music. "Kronomatopea" is a neologism coined to name the project.

The term consists of two words: the root "Krono" of Greek origin (Kronos trad. Tempo) and the word "Onomatopoea" (rhetorical figure that reproduces the noise or the sound associated with an object or a subject. Precisely from the fusion of these words "Kronomatopea" proposes to be the new syllogism that describes the "sound of time" and at the same time fully describes the soul of the project.

💿 KRONOMATOPEA is actually a solo project with a revolving line-up. It will be possible in the future to have permanent members and a real band or not? Yes, I'd like to! In the past I tried to create a band but I never found anyone who could be interested in such an ambitious project. 💿 Your new album “TIME, IT’S TIME” is out for a few days (only digital). Can you tell us somethin’ about its composition’s process? Are you satisfied about this platter? We were really impressed!

Thank you so much! The process of composition wasn’t difficult. For me it's a spontaneous thing. I had to use virtual orchestras because at the production level, finding thirty orchestra elements and recording them would have been a very difficult task for me. But I think the result is not bad.

This was my first project and I had not yet matured so much experience. So I can’t call myself satisfied because dissatisfaction can help to improve. 💿 The real “news” in music industry is the return of vinyl. What’s your feeling about this classic format and the current music “business”?

I think the analogue sound of vinyl can’t be compared to the digital sound of the CD. There are some tracks that I think would lose a lot if heard on vinyl. But I can’t deny that listening to "Spanish Castle Magic" (Jimi Hendrix) in analogical has no equal. I think today it is very difficult to emerge because the music market is saturated. There is so much of that new music to listen to that there is no time and way to pay attention to everyone! It's all right that everyone has an opportunity in life, but it's really hard to get noticed.

💿 The new EP is out via Buil2Kill Records . Can you tell us somethin’about the relationships with them?

Trevor and Federico (Buil2Kill Records) are very attentive and professional.

I was lucky to meet people so prepared and available.

Their support and their expertise were fundamental for the release of my first album and for this they have all my gratitude. 💿 This is a studio project or will it be possible to see it live!?

Currently it is only a studio project, bringing it live would be wonderful but also difficult. I would play it live on the sole condition that it’s a real orchestra! I don’t think it makes the same effect to play live with virtual sounds.

💿 We love the cover of TIME, IT’S TIME.. Who made it?

The idea of the cover is mine, while the realization is of a friend of mine. II wanted to represent a worn and abandoned theater, to indicate the ineluctable effects of the passing of time, the main theme of the whole album, and empty, to underline the absence of the orchestras in a project in which the orchestra plays a fundamental role. 💿Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!

Thanks to you. See you soon. (Thanks NADIR PROMOTION)
