ADRIAN JENKINSON/SIMON SAXBY - SALEM UK

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal ADRIAN JENKINSON and SIMON SAXBY! Welcome!

Thank you very much for having us!

💿 On 23rd February 2018, when new album of SALEM, well-known NWOBHM band, was out, SIMON SAXBY and ADRIAN JENKINSON, singer and bass player, were sacked from the band, through a letter from other three members.. A real thunderbolt..Without going into the details (we imagine that there may be legal issue) can you tell us what’s happened?

It’s difficult to say because of legalities, and we don’t want to be negative. It’s happened, there is nothing we can do about it, so—as always—our focus is on the music.

💿 We are fans, at first, and we don’t want to choose which side of the fence to sit on. We are sorry because ATTRITION is a real good album, well-done and well-produced. What do you think about your last job? Can you tell us somethin’about its composition process?

For Attrition, the process was similar to Forgotten Dreams and Dark Days. Simon, me, Paul or Mark would come up with a basic chord sequence, then I (as producer) would collaborate on the arrangement of the song. Then Simon and I would write the vocal melody and lyrics together. It seems to be working out that way for Salem UK too!

💿 You want to look forward, and the first choice to carry out “your” version of SALEM (SALEM UK), is a guitarist called FRANCIS GIL. Can you introduce him to our readers?

Francis is widely recognised as the best guitarist in our home town of Hull. I have known him for many years and recorded him many times in my studio. He is simply the best guitarist I have ever recorded (and I have been recording since the 80s!).

We are honoured that he agreed to join Salem UK, and we have already been working together on new material.

💿 SALEM and SALEM UK..Do you think that two similar moniker can create confusion in the audience?

Again, this is the subject of litigation, we can’t say too much, but there will be no confusion in the future.

💿 Maybe it’s too soon but what kind of future you’re seein’ for your new project?

We’ll take whatever comes our way. We’ve already had an offer to work with a top management company and to go on tour as support for a larger band, but that’s always difficult when the band members have commitments outside of rock music. Whatever happens, we will always be writing, recording—and of course, playing!
