TIM SCOTT - METHANE

💿 Hi, it's a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal TIM SCOTT of METHANE! Welcome!!

Thank you!

💿 Can you tell us somethin'about your early days of your career? When is this all begun? Which bands have influenced you and What's the matter of your moniker? I grew up in Northern California when the Bay Area thrash scene was new, I would definately have to say that era of music is the most influential musically for me. From there I moved to the New York City area and got involved in the death metal scene there where I played in Revenant. Revenant signed with a then underground record label called Nuclear Blast. We did a bunch touring opening for bands like Morbid Angel, Type O Negative and Napalm Death. In '94 Revenant was layed to rest and I moved to Florida where I hooked up with Rob Barret (Cannibal Corpse) and Phil (Malevolent Creation) and joined their project HatePlow, I played on the first demos and album before moving to Sweden.

Here in Sweden I have played in a row of death metal bands until 2012/13 when my brother and I were talking about starting a groove metal project.

I called Jimi one night and told him our idea.

He also had been in a bunch death metal bands and like me, wanted to play something more thrashy, something that was more feeling and less counting. Thats how Methane started. 💿 Your first full-length "THE DEVIL'S OWN" is out from one year.. Are you satisfied about this platter and fans'reaction? Yeah, you know when you record an album there are always small things you would like to change but I am happy with the result as our first album. It has gotten a good response and most importantly is its been alot of fun writing music with these guys. 💿 The real "news" in music industry is the return of vinyl; What's your feeling about this classic format and the current music "business"?

Vinyl is a cool retro trend, I sold off all of my original records years ago. Unfortunatly there isn't a whole lot of money to be made on the actual recordings if its physical or digital and thats really changed the entire music industry. We are all adapting record companies as well as musicians. I heard an interview with Rob from Conquest the other day where he said that the music business now a days is forcing musicians to be responsible grown ups, working for a living to support our music habits, I think that was a good analogy. 💿 "THE DEVIL'S OWN" was out through DARK STAR RECORDS. Can you tell us somethin'about relationships with them? Jeffrey and Dark Star have been nothing but awesome. We are really glad to be a part of that family. 💿 Can you tell us somethin'about your next studio projects?

We have lots of new material ready for the next album. It is heavier, more thrash influenced but we still have alot of the southern metal influences as well. I'm really excited about it. We have Olle Ekman playing drums for us now and he has added lot to the dynamics in the new stuff. 💿 We have seen many gigs scheduled next months. How much is important for you playin'live? Yes! Right now I am in on our Signed In Blood Euroean tour. We'll be back in for some gigs then Finland and continental Europe twords the spring supporting Eyes Wide Open its a killer package with Edge of Ever from as well, 3 heavy bands with different sounds, a really good interesting metal night. Things are getting real busy its alot of fun. Playing live is where my demons come out and the music comes to life.

Giging is the best part of it. We love to be out on the road meeting new people in new places!

💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal!
