METALIAN - IAN WILSON

💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal IAN WILSON of HEAVY METAL band METALIAN! Welcome! Can you tell us somethin’about your early days? When is this all begun? Which bands have influenced you?

Early influences were Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest primarily. Back in 2002 my friend Liam and I had just figured out how to play guitar harmonies and wanted to write some songs incorporating them. The falsetto vocals came shortly after.

💿 Your last album “MIDNIGHT RIDER” is out from last year. Can you tell us somethin’about this platter and its composition process and somethin’about fans’reaction?

Midnight Rider was written as a group in 2015 and recorded in april 2016 in one day. It has been really well received and has led to a record deal with high roller records. Its currently available with Underground Power.

💿 The real “news” in music industry is the return of vinyl; What’s your feeling about this classic format and the current music business?

The music business is not really a concern for me... We play because it`s fun not for a job. Money is good of course but not what drives us. The sharing culture with the internet has good and bad aspects for us. We reach way more people than we would have before it existed... Im a huge fan of vinyl and lucky for us our fans seem to be also! It`s definitely different to listen to an album on vinyl than to put a playlist on youtube. It`s a nice ritual.

💿 What do you think about the renewed interest for Classic/Traditional HM? Love for “vintage” or a new golden era? Anyway I believe that it’s magic this remade interest for this kind of music!

Yeah for sure! I don’t understand why it ever went away actually. I guess hair metal made everyone forget about the old stuff in the 90s.

💿 Can you tell us somethin’about your next projects, live and in studio?

We are currently writing a new album which will be recorded this spring. We have some local shows coming in the next couple months and are hoping to do another tour in Europe this summer. We`re also planning to do a video for a track from Midnight Rider.

💿 Lastly, Can you tell us somethin’about the cover of “MIDNIGHT RIDER” Who made it? A really good job!

My friend Metal Myke has been the unofficial 5th member of the band and has done all of out artwork since the beginning, including our logo design, banner, album covers, tshirts and countless posters.
