💿 Hi,it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal DAVID del CID of NEURONSPOILER, one ofthe best name in NWOTHM and hard’n’heavy UK scene.

Let’s start talking about the early days of the band..When is this all begun? Which bands have influenced you? First, thanks for getting in touch with us! The band was born in 2009 at the height of the recession here in the UK which gave us enough drive to get things started. It was me and bassist Erick Tekilla who were responsible for stirring the band’s direction in the early days (we’ve been friends since 2005 and played together in the UK’s thrash band Headless Cross) but things improved dramatically once we teamed up with vocalist JR, drummer Tim Barclay and guitarist Stanley Long. This was the line-up that recorded our first studio effort: No One’s Safe EP. I’ve always been a big fan of the NWOBHM movement, particularly bands like Grim Reaper, Diamond Head, Saxon, Demon, Praying Mantis, Raven, early days of Def Leppard and of course Iron Maiden. But as far Heavy Metal is concerned, this is a global phenomenon and so are our influences with bands like DIO, W.A.S.P., Queensrÿche, Metal Church and Dokken from the US; Scorpions, Accept and Primal Fear from Germany; early Yngwie Malmsteen and Europe from Sweden; Krokus from Switzerland; King Diamond-Mercyful Fate from Denmark; Sortilege from France; TSA from Poland; Loudness from Japan; Baron Rojo and Angeles del Infierno from Spain; Rata Blanca from Argentina and many others. 💿 On October 20th will be out your new full-length SECOND SIGHT. Can you tell us somethin’about this platter and its composition process? The appetizer SLAY THE BEAST is amazing! And, lastly, Are there some style differences between SECOND SIGHT and the previous full-length EMERGENCE? Glad to hear you enjoy Slay the Beast! Um…I don’t even know where to start talking about Second Sight… Simply, it was the most difficult experience I’ve ever had in the recording studio, a fitting culmination of the most personally turbulent period in Neuronspoiler’s history. With the departure of our long-standing drummer Tim and guitarist Dave Shirman (Emergence’s line-up) came a parade of replacements mainly filled by time wasters who dragged the band further and further down and then it came the time to start recording, just a few bars into the first song after setting up the drums and I think the drummer we brought in experienced a nervous breakdown and so in a flash we were left with no drummer to lay down any of the tracks! With the miracle of studio trickery we somehow managed to carry on with the other instruments and eventually persuaded Firewind’s drummer Johan Nuñes to add his drumming afterwards. All this added to issues with the album ‘producer’ Bart Gabriel eventually took its toll on all of us, frankly, I don’t know how we’re still holding up after being through all that, there were moments when I just wanted to leave music behind for good. I’m sure everyone will hear differences between Second Sight and Emergence as nothing whatsoever has been the same ever since, having said that, I think our love for doing what we do also managed to come through, perhaps even more so than in the first album and therefore the end result has been a nice surprise to us, we still can’t believe how good Second Sight sounds despite all the challenges mentioned. I think we ended up with a simpler, straight to the point album than we first intended and that’s not necessarily a bad thing as I always get told I write too much intricate crap ha ha ha ha.

💿 The album will be out via DISSONANCE PRODUCTIONS. Can you tell us somethin’about the relationships with this label? As I was saying, Grim Reaper and Diamond Head have been two of my favourite bands so being on the same label as them is an unbelievable honour to me. We personally met the Dissonance Productions team the day we went to their offices to sign the contract earlier this year and have been regularly on the phone/emails with them since. They have been fantastic so far, it’s really unbelievable that there’s still a label properly supporting Classic Heavy Metal these days so we feel very lucky and we will do whatever it takes to go beyond their expectations! 💿 The real “news” in music industry is the return of vinyl; What’s your feeling about this classic format and the current music business? What’s your opinion about the renewedinterest for classic hard’n’heavy? I’m about to pre-order my vinyl copy of Second Sight and that will be the first vinyl I’ve ever owned! Somehow I missed the whole experience, I guess I was more of a cassette guy when I was a kid and then went straight into CD’s once I was old enough to get a job. Still, I always loved looking at vinyl classics and their inner sleeves so I can’t wait to see Second Sight’s cover LP size, bigger is better! I might even start building up an LP collection after this… I’ve never cared too much about classic hard ’n’ heavy being in or out of fashion, as far as I’m concerned, there’s always been great bands in some corner of the world writing fantastic songs from day one till the present day, period. I think what you refer to is this music recently receiving more attention from the richest countries but as a Latin American man myself I can assure you Heavy Metal is there to stay, that’s why it has become the preferred place for classic bands to tour in the past decade.

💿 Can you tell us somethin’about your next live projects to promote the new album? We’re really hoping this will be the album that will finally put us in the live circuit. It’s very strange but we have been going on in the UK for nearly 10 years now and never been invited to play at any of the main metal festivals, there was the one occasion that we played main stage at Cambridge Rock Festival in 2011 which seemed to go extremely well but never happened again, I remember people there asking us why we weren't playing at Bloodstock or Download or the other ones going on at the time and the reality is that we haven’t got the faintest idea why things are this way, in the earlier days we used to contact them to offer anything we could so we’d be included and they will come up with whatever excuse they could find as an explanation why we couldn’t participate that year. The latest experience I had was with the organiser of a festival called Les-Fest in Scotland who told us we’ll be on, then dropped us and when I messaged him asking what happened he decided it was easier to ignore me so I never got a reply. I eventually gave up caring about this, there are plenty more options out there which we’re starting to explore, we just came back from a 10 date UK tour with Tim “Ripper” Owens are a couple of these type of offers on the table at the moment so stay tuned to find out where you can come and watch one of our shows! 💿 Thank you so much for your time!
