ALBUM THE BURNING ILLUSION
LABEL Orchestrated Misery Recordings
OUT Apr 30th, 2021
OUR RATING 85/100
YELLOWTOOTH, HM trio from Indiana, US is out with the third platter “The Burning lllusion” out via Orchestrated Misery Recordings, the first recording with new drummer Dave Dalton.
In the coming months YELLOWTOOTH plans on sporadic live performances to showcase Burning the Illusion, and to continue perfecting new material for an upcoming EP.
This album is opened by FROM FAITH TO FLAMES, a great example of well played doom, enhanced by sharp riffing, vicious leading vocals and slightly toned-down backing vocals.
After the first solo, they provide tempo changes and a sound closer to the power-groove, featuring another solo the remark.
ATROCITY is powerful and aggressive, at times groovy, and is followed by DEEP SPACE, a short interlude.
After that, it’s time for ASTRONAUT’S JOURNEY, a song that grows second after second.
Following “almost title-track” THE ILLUSION is another right shot, while VOID is another gem, where stoner, HM, doom and groove live in perfect harmony.
DEAD FLOWERS is darker, Sabbath’s influenced, but faster in the second slice; to underscore again guitar’s solos, always brilliant.
They go on with SCATTERED TO THE WIND, opened by an arpeggio and next combining groovy and almost grunge elements, while LAZARUS SYNDROME, both relentless and squared, ends in the best way an album that WE SUGGEST WITHOUT HESITATION!!
