Witchwood, amazing hard/prog band from Italy, are ready to unleash their highly anticipated third album, entitled “Before the Winter”, available on November 20th worldwide via JOLLY ROGER RECORDS.

The album will be available on CD, double-LP and digitally.

In 2014, from the ashes of the Buttered Bacon Biscuits band, Witchwood were born.

Buttered Bacon Biscuits released a self-produced CD in 2010, “From the Solitary Woods” (available on CD and LP on Jolly Roger seven years later.

After the split, some members of the band - Ricky, Andy, Steve, and Sam - decided, with the entry of new member Luca Celotti on bass, to start Witchwood.

All musicians have been active for decades, with past recording experience with local bands and collaborations with artists like Martin Grice (Delirium) and Nik Turner (Hawkwind).

Their debut album as Witchwood, “Litanies From the Woods”, featured a stunning bland of hard rock, prog, psych, and southern rock with a 70’s twist.

One year later, they came back with a new recording, “Handful of Stars”, featuring three unreleased songs and two covers - "Flaming Telepath" from Blue Öyster Cult and "Rainbow Demon" from Uriah Heep.

Now it’s time for this new BEFORE THE WINTER; we had the chance to listening to it in preview and we can SAY that it’s one of the best things seen throughout this mad year!

It’s amazing when a band of the modern day has tons of inspiration, wants to risk without fear spreading their wings free.

They start with ANTHEM FOR A CHILD; they show an own style, we can feel vibrations from seventies, influenced by best URIAH HEEP.

We love the structure of the song and solo parts are rich, thanks to flute and guitar.

In A TASTE OF WINTER we can find a driven keyboards, a lot of harmony, vocals are so inspired before gorgeous solo parts devided between keys and guitar.

We love FEELIN’, with the solo-flute again starring or the melody of A CRIMSON MOON, with its soft arpeggio.

HESPERUS, over 8 mins lenght, is one of our favorite, a stunning songs which evolves second after second, with a clear 70s flavour.

More rockin’ following NO REASON TO CRY, with a Zeppelin’s twist, before evocative NASRID.

More bluesy CRAZY LITTLE LOVER, with solo parts against to remark before SLOW COLOURS OF SHADE and a cover of Marc Bolan’s CHILD STAR.
