Six years after TOO HEAVY TO FLY, we have in our hands the long-awaited comeback of VANEXA, the classic hard’n’heavy band from Italy.

Let’s start saying that THE LAST IN BLACK hit us from its freshness and energy, with its classic old school sound enriched by contemporary production and arrangements able to express at their best messages about life, social issues and war.

With a confirmed line up, which consists of classic members Sergio Schafausen on bass and Silvano Bottari and drums, Andrea Ranfa on vocals, and two axes Pier Gonella and Tani Selishta, THE LAST IN BLACK provides ten songs firstly fancy and well-composed.

The first shot is the fluent title-track followed by MY GRAVE, more rhythmic and helped by driving bass lines and rich solo parts (a trademark of the whole album).

EARTHQUAKE is divided into two parts and grows second after second; after a first part son of more thoughtful WHITESNAKE, riffing is more structured in the second slice..surely one of our favorite songs of the platter.

NO SALVATION is an heavy rock tune with fresh gallops while PERFECT!, after a fancy first part, with a soft arpeggio, takes rhythm growing in the second part.

ARMLESS is the longest track, surely the more progressive, while DR. STRANGE is more direct and flows perfectly.

If DEAD MAN WALKING provides more shaded rhythms, LIKE A MIRAGE is another brilliant shot.

I DON’T CARE ends in the best way this great album for a band that has nothin’ more to prove.
