BAND THE VEITH RICARDO PROJECT
ALBUM STORM WARNING
LABEL Pure Steel Records
OUT Feb 26th, 2021
OUR RATING 83/100
Apart from the sounds of US-Metal by DARK ARENA, singer Juan Ricardo(also RITUAL, SUNLESS SKY, WRETCH) and keyboardist Vincent Veith (also GHOST SHIP, VELVET VOYAGE) devoted themselves to another project in 2005: THE VEITH RICARDO PROJECT.
The concept of the formation, which also includes guitarist Neil Zaza, bassist Doug Johns, drummer Chris Ceja and Jerry Brightman at Pedal Steel, is based on a Prog Rock and Metal, with a fresh and contemporary mood.
In 2005, the recording was left incomplete as a demo. But in 2020, because of the Covid 19 shutdown, Vincent Veith and Juan Ricardo finally had the time to go back to the studio and finish the album.
Originally recorded by Michael Seifert at Ante-Up Studios, Cleveland. Produced by Vincent Veith and finally completed by Ewell Martin at Martin Studios, Louisville.
The mastering was done by skilled Robert Romagna / Audiostahl Robert Romagna.
Even though most of songs, especially in the first slice, last more than 5/6 minutes, you can’t really feel bored.
The tempo changes are well constructed and don’t make the album too fragmented.
With the fourth track, HIT THE WALL, they provided more musicality and somethin’ further away from prog; in ERUPTION TO CORRUPTION, an explosive track, we can find also funky elements.
After the grandiloquent ANATHEMA MARANATHA, the second half of the platter sees melody prevail, enhanced by crystal-clear vocals and plinking piano keys when it needs.
A FANCY ALBUM PLAYED BY SKILLED MUSICIANS WHICH SURELY YOU’LL APPRECIATE!!!
