OUR RATING 88/100
The wait is over..the new album by SATAN’S EMPIRE entitled “HAIL THE EMPIRE” is finally out and we can say, trust me on this, it was worth it.
For the first time out on DISSONANCE PRODUCTIONS, the first impression is really excellent, thank to a well-groomed production which exalts all members, first vocals among others.
With a confirmed line-up and an awesome cover by ANDY PILKINGTON, the first shot is WARRIORS, powerful and grandiloquent, squared and anthemic, that grows in the second slice, as it happens in many songs of the platter.
SECRETS shows some Sabbath’s influences and it’s so lilting and fancy, enhanced by an inspired solo and spot-on harmonizations.
RIVERS OF GEHENNA is more rockin’, but soon the riffing becomes heavier and with more thickness; a rich song with Derek Lyon in best shape..a great example of high level British Heavy Rock.
More rhythm in EMPIRE RISING, where there is no shortage of great changes of time; powerful and majestic with solo parts again to remark.
The title track opens and ends with acoustic guitars before entering the “electric band”; an amazing hymn, again with great changes of time and a structure never predictable.
The second part of this fatigue shows STORM OF THE AIRWAVES and BLACK, which provides different and unseen solutions, clear sign that the band doesn’t live on memories.
ALL HALLOWS EVE is another right shot before more squared SHADOWMAKER.
It’s up to NEW WORLD to end in the best way this album, showing melody in the first slice and somethin’ heavier, with solo parts to remind, in the second.
NWOBHM ALIVE AND KICKIN’.. SATAN’S EMPIRE HAS SCORED ANOTHER GOAL...HOPING TO SEE THEM LIVE SOON WITH THESE NEW SONGS..BUT NOW, IN THIS NIGHTMARE TIME, WE ARE REALLY HAPPY TO LISTEN TO GOOD MUSIC LIKE THIS.
