On April 1st was out the new album by cult Nwobhm band SATAN, always appreciated on our pages.

Since 2013, after the long-awaited return with LIFE SENTENCE, the band finally received only standing ovation.

Also in this new album we can find classic trademarks of the band: the iconic voice of BRIAN ROSS, the intricate guitar textures of two “monsters” STEVE RAMSEY and RUSS TIPPINS, more “progressive” shots, overlooking solo parts, all enriched by driving bass lines and both dynamic and pressing drumming.

No filler..all killers! You can feel it since first ASCENDANCY, where we can find complex structures, evocative vocals and brilliant solo parts.

We love BURNING PORTRAIT, well-known as video single, while TWELVE INFERNAL LORDS is powerful and enthralling, both direct and never obvious. They go on with MERCURY’S SHADOW, an instrumental interlude, followed by A SORROW UNSPENT, with not typical starting meter, and Classic HM passages interspersed with more thoughtful moments.

Side B is opened by LUCIFERIC, a rich song where 80’s mood meets, evocative passages, rhythm and melody when it needs.

FROM SECOND SIGHT is more dynamic while POISON ELEGY is one of our favorite, a multi-faceted track.

THE BLOOD RAN DEEP is another gem, rich of all trademarks of the band, followed by EARTH WE BEQUEATH, mighty and epic, that ends in the best way this brilliant album.
