BAND Picture ALBUM WINGS OUT 16/8/2019 LABEL Pure Steel Records OUR RATING 87/100 Only a few months ago, PICTURE was out with a great live album, called "40 Years Heavy Metal Ears - 1978-2018", with the classical band line-up. 3 years ago, the remaining two original members, bass player Rinus Vreugdenhill and drummer Laurens "Bakkie" Bakker, could actually reunite with guitarist Jan Bechtum and singer Ronald van Prooijen. Now, in 2019, they are ready to unleash their new album called WINGS, out on Aug 16th via PURE STEEL with a line up enhanced by second guitarist Appie de Gelder. The new Album “Wings” was recorded Winter/Spring 2019 at Red Pack Productions in Ridderkerk (The Netherlands) with engineer and producer Jonathan Merrelaar. Again a fancy album in the history of the band, with a well-balanced mix of Hard Rock and Classic Metal which will make happy all fans. The first shot is LINE OF LIFE that begins with a guitar solo before a tight riffing; an heavy rock so classic but enriched by a production so clear and modern. The title track starts with a keyboards and bass attack, reminding somethin' of DEEP PURPLE of the modern day; guitar solo is again really inspired and fancy. Next shot is LITTLE ANNIE, opened by a classy arpeggio, is an hard rock song that leaves its mark, while IS IT REAL is great example of classic metal, with strong riffs and twing guitar passages. After BLOWN AWAY, NO PLACE TO HIDE is a fresh song that reminds somethin' from first Saxon. EMPTY ROOM is one of our favs, with a classic riff with NWOBHM vibe and solos to remind. NEVER ENOUGH, is closer to hard rock, with the right attitude, perfect for a live sing-a-long!! Fresh and smart!! STILL STANDING starts with a runaway, clear sign of a metal anthem, before last ace STROKE, surely the heavier tune of this album, with a central break almost progressive, ends in the best way this great platter! WELCOME BACK PICTURE!
