Maybe I don't understand anything about music but, when DEEP PURPLE were forced to think about a substitute for a legend as JON LORD, my "one and only" name was surely DON AIREY.

For a few days is out the new solo album, enhanced by an all-star line up, well mixed both in studio and live, with CARL SENTANCE on vocals (NAZARETH, PERSIAN RISK), LAURENCE COTTLE, amazing musician seen also as member of BLACK SABBATH in "HEADLESS CROSS", SIMON MCBRIDE, substitute of MICKY MOODY in the second awesome platter of SNAKECHARMER, and JON FINNIGAN on drums.

No doubt, this album is pure joy!

We start with on fire hard rock of RESPECT, with Carl Sentance simply..crushing..before giving space to solos of hammond and guitar.

The tones of this album are able to be more lilting sometimes, as in ALL OUT OF A LINE, or wider as in ONE OF A KIND, or more melodic as in EVERY TIME I SEE YOUR FACE.

Solo parts of guitar and keyboards are always rich of inspiration and heart, surely fancy too.

VICTIM OF PAIN is darker sometimes but in some moments is able to be more melodic.

The album restarts powerful with LOST BOYS, while WANT YOU SO BAD is extremely various.

This album goes on enthusiastically with CHILDREN OF THE SUN, the instrumental REMEMBER TO CALL and STAY THE NIGHT, closer to DEEP PURPLE songs of the modern day.

NO DOUBT..AN AWESOME ALBUM..

To remind the second cd with four live cover versions, especially PICTURES OF HOME (DEEP PURPLE) and STILL GOT THE BLUES (GARY MOORE)
