BAND WISHING WELL
ALBUM RAT RACE OUT 2018 (March 2nd) LABEL INVERSE RECORDS
RATING 84/100
Wishing Well, classic HARD ROCK combo from FINLAND, is ready to record its second album “Rat Race” on March 2, through INVERSE RECORDS.
The first single, “Children Of Paradise”, was released on February 13th.
The band features a new line-up with Rafael Castillo on vocals and Arto Teppo on Hammond organ.
“Rat Race” is a follow-up to their debut album called “Chasing Rainbows”, released in February 2016.
This album starts with WHEELING AND HEALING, an HR tune direct and keyboards-driven; a really powerful start enhanced by ductile voice of RAFAEL CASTILLO.
CHILDREN OF PARADISE begins with HAMMOND in pole position; the flavour of DEEP PURPLE or WHITESNAKE (until SLIDE IT IN) is pleasant.
SLEEPLESS NIGHTS is lightly different, more power and less keyboards-driven.
PILGRIM CARAVAN is a real jewel, darker and enriched from an arabic violin; it remind us atmospheres in RAPTURE OF THE DEEP's mood (DEEP PURPLE).
The title track is a solid strong that remind us somethin'from URIAH HEEP or DEEP PURPLE of modern days.
FALLING OUT OF LOVE is more epic and, at times, easygoing, while A LITTLE DREAM is a nice acoustic break, melodic and inspired.
GRAIN OF SAND starts with rhythms slowed down, with vocals really inspired and Hammond with dreamin' touch.
YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN is a strong tune, really compelling, where all instruments are able to express themselves fully.
Last but not least, THE DAY OF DOOM (honestly not doom) is the proper conclusion of a smart job.
LASTLY
An album to have for all fans of classic HARD ROCK Hammond-powered!
