BAND SAMARKIND
ALBUM SAMARKIND
OUT 2017 (Nov 24th)
LABEL Self-Release
OUR RATING 90/100
Samarkind, which features charismatic Irish frontman David Paul Byrne (formally teenage singer for Hard Rock band Assassin - at the time in tour with Def Leppard, Status Quo, WASP, Manowar and more - and featured vocalist on 80's cult movie 'Trick Or Treat' starring Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons), accompanied by Polish guitarist Michal Kulbaka, Ireland's Mark Dempsey on bass guitar, and South African born drummer Marius Appelgryn, is a multinational prodigy in Hard Rock scene, that kind of Hard Rock influenced by Heavy Blues in seventies mood but developing their music in a deeply own style.
Let's start to the end: an amazing job, and this is only a debut full-lenght! Incredible..
That's what I regret the most is they haven't found a label..but this is, sadly, the music business today.

The first song is BLACK RAIN that starts with an epic intro with the bluesy voice of DAVID PAUL BYRNE; choirs are perfects and solo is gorgeous.
The duration decreases in the second song, SUN STROKES HEART, a great Hard Rock tune in the way of the first Whitesnake (Moody/Marsden times) but with a not vintage sound..great!
SKINNY RIVERS starts rhythmically with funky elements; in the background you can hear DEEP PURPLE of COME TASTE THE BAND but also bands as Free; everything tired up by magic solos.
GOOD MAN CALL begin in more introspective mood before developing with more emphasis.
THRU THAT DOOR with organ drops returns to UK seventies bluesy Hard Rock, with choirs perfectly balanced and crushing solo parts.
FIRE AND BLOOD, in our opinion, is one of the aces of this amazing album.
TOUCH STONE MAN begin in "country mood" and sometimes reminds us somethin' from LED ZEPPELIN.
BLUE MOUNTAINS ends this platter in the right way, astonishing the audience with their changes and developments.
Nothin'all to add..pure high class Hard Rock..labels are you on line?
